DIY Name Banner

What's a better way to celebrate a new baby then a baby shower! Over the last 9 months, Mom and Dad have thought long and hard about the name for their precious bundle of joy, so why not celebrate that too! I really enjoyed making this cute name banner for little Ace! With just a little scrapbook paper and twine you have a cute decoration for the shower and for the nursery!

Step One:  Pick out your scrapbook paper!
I chose to stick with the theme of the shower and used sports-inspired paper, which just happens to match the little one's future room! You can make the banner any size you want. I choose to do Ace's first and middle names. Also, you can use whatever sized paper you want. {Since the name was going to be so long, I decided to cut my paper down a bit and make the individual letters smaller!}

Step Two: I found coordinating paper and jazzed up my paper a bit!

I am not the best at taking pictures of each step. There are actually a few things missing here. Oops! I cut out white paper and then also cut out letters to spell A-C-E-K-A-R-T-E-R. Then glued and all that stuff! You will also see I added more paper than the picture above to my letters
Step Three: Thread the letters!
I found some twine {at Wal-Mart for around 2 bucks} and then punched holes in each paper. I think it turned out nicely. So easy and so cute! Definetly added something to the shower!

DIY Diaper Cake

As I write this blog about all my DIY shower items --the sweet little boy the items are for is being brought into this world. I am anxiously awaiting a text to find out that precious Ace Karter has arrived. I'm almost certain that he will be born dribbling a basketball.

It is really so SIMPLE. This whole process should last you about 30 minutes. Just pop in a movie, watch a show on television and get to crafting! This is such a cute way to "gift" diapers! So much cuter than the package, right?

The rolling of the diapers is the most time consuming part - then the fun begins. Decorate away! Get creative.  I had cute pictures of me decorating the cake but blogspot is being crazy and won't let me upload them so I will just share the finished product. I know you are all smart enough to  figure out the end between!

This is how my cake turned out!

DIY Scoreboard

I recently helped host an adorable little shower for a baby boy who is being born into a family who adores sports. Actually, this baby will be more athletic from the minute he is born than me ever. I made several little items for the shower and I will be sharing them with you over the next few days, but the first DIY project is the chalkboard scoreboard.

I started with a chalkboard from Hobby Lobby

Then, I traced each line onto the board. I was so nervous once it came to painting the lines I would screw up so I used a pencil and a ruler to make sure it was all straight and perfect.

Then I began to paint the lines just right over the penciled lines.

TA DA!

And here is the scoreboard at the shower!

Instead of signing a guest book we had everyone "autograph" a basketball. I wish that had been my idea.

secret's out

If you missed my last blog - secret project the secret is out! I have been planning a baby shower for my dear friend Krista. I am way to exhausted today to post all the pictures on Facebook or talk about the shower on here. I also had the Shawnee Kiwanis Distracted Driving today so I had a nice 12 hour day. But I had to post a picture of the little momma to be. There are a ton of pictures to post from my DIY projects from her shower but they will be posted tomorrow or Friday. {Tomorrow is just as busy as today - so be patient!}

I have been having craft nights lately working on a little project...I wish I could show you the project but the recipient might just see it before she receives it...
so until then

here's a teaser.

eleven

{I will warn you: this blog is not intended to be creative or witty and you may think--how mushy - but this kid means so much to me so I knew today my blog needed to be about him!}

To my youngest brother -

Today you turned 11. I cannot believe how fast you are growing up! It seems like just yesterday that you were born and shook up our little family of four! You made quite the entrance in to our family. One, because I figured that only brother I would have was Jon and we both know that you are definitely not the boring one ;) and the other was your entrance did come quite as a surprise. We were planning one last family of four night on Sunday and you were to be born on Monday--as planned. But you made our grand entrance on Friday morning instead. From that moment on, you have been full of surprises! {Honestly, I would not have it any other way} You never fail to make me laugh. You are so witty and you have so much compassion. You have such a big heart for such a little person. Although we tease you about being silly and I know that homework isn't easy for you - there is no doubt in my mind that the Lord is going to use you in such mighty ways{and already has!} Gosh, we might just all be working for you someday!
Love you so much,
Sissy!
P.S. Yes, this is the same brother as my Oh Brother post. If you missed that one - well its worth reading!

What a stud!!!
This is a picture I plan to embarrass you with later. But only because you asked one of my boyfriends once if they were late picking me up because they had diarrhea. But knowing you, you won't be embarrassed but proud.

This is why I'm the favorite sibling - I let him jump off bar stools into giant bean bags!  {this was my house BEFORE I had real furniture, needless to say - Josh liked it better then!}

The Great Outdoors

I enjoy being outside. I want to spend time on my little patio. It needs some love before it's going to be our summer hang out. This is my blank canvas. I have vision, so we will see how it goes!

I made one little adjustment already:
I added a little a paint to my 50 cent find.
It really isn't a whole lot different, just a little bit darker and more shiny!
 And it's a start on a big project!

If you have any ideas --- please share!

Life Update

It has been awhile since I blogged. Have I been doing interesting things? Well, of course, but finding a time to sit down and blog about them has been difficult. After spending all day on the computer at work sometimes I just didn't want to get on here and write awhile. Gosh, I honestly haven't had a lot of time either. I have spent the last few weeks running around like crazy! So having time to upload pictures, edit them, and talk about them was on the last of my to-do list. And yes, maybe watching tv/relaxing was ahead of blogging but hey sometimes you just need a little R&R..but anyways...

I'm BACK! Let me update you on where I have been! These could all probably be there own posts but I am gonna cram a ton into one instead!

I went to dinner club where I got to boondoggle. {boon -dogg-le(n):work of little or no value done merely to keep or look busy.} If you want to drive yourself nuts - then this is the craft for you. I love crafting but this was more like cruel and unusual punishment! My dear friend Rachel agreed with me --but we don't agree on other things -- BOOMER!!

One weekend: My beautiful cousin Melissa is expecting a baby girl this summer and I had a chance to met up with her and our friend Katie. Katie and I actually met at Melissa's wedding and hit it off. We did a little shopping for "Baby Girl" and then a little shopping for us. Katie even found her a man at one of the boutiques!

Another weekend: My college roommate {which is weird to say, sometimes I forget I'm not in college anymore} is getting is married! I road tripped down to Dallas with my brother for her bridal shower! It was great to see her, her mother, and her friend Kristen.  Best wishes Rachel and Casey! Love you guys!

And the weekend after that: A trip home always reminds me my sister is spoiled. {but then I am then reminded--so was I}

And then the next weekend: Rachel got married. We spend a fun weekend in Dallas living it up. It's always great to get out of Shawnee {except as you can tell, I haven't been in Shawnee a lot lately}

And present day: Well, now that I am actually home I am catching up on sleep, laundry, projects, laundry, did I mention laundry?

I do have some ideas for some outdoor projects that I will be working on in the next couple of days. Stay tuned!
